COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: When students have completed this course they will:
Discuss the system of public school governance and its relation to the courts
Summarize public education law court opinions
Describe existing Federal law, State law, programs and state-tribal agreements that govern Indian education
Analyze and discuss legal concepts related to school organizations and administrations
Interpret and facilitate between the larger political and legal interrelationships within social and cultural context
Critically review and evaluate school curriculum and special programs for compliance with public school laws and the needs of the community
Demonstrate knowledge of students’ and teachers’ rights guaranteed by the First, Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments
Practice Lakota values of respect and courage in the classroom, between colleagues and within the research process
Use the Lakota language in their classroom, between colleagues and within the research process
