This course is a three credit hour course offered on the Oglala Lakota College Virtual Campus site using Moodle as a totally online course. I want to emphasize that this is not an independent study class.
For this class the week begins on Monday. This means the class officially begins on Monday, January 20, 2020.
Please let me know if you have any technical problems with the class immediately. If you email me I will call you. If necessary, I can meet with your or call you, depending on our schedules and locations.
Any correspondence from me will be either through the virtual classroom site or your OLC email. Please check your OLC email often (at least once a day) and plan on being in the virtual classroom a minimum of four days per week to keep up to date.
My name is Ahmed Al-Asfour. E-mail aaalasfour@olc.edu and phone is 605-430-5031
Attendance is vital to your success and continuation in the class. In order to facilitate attendance and to enhance your understanding of the weekly topics, there will be a weekly discussion topic. You will need to respond to the discussion topic by Wednesday of each week (minimum 200 words) and reply to a fellow classmate’s response by Sunday. Your discussion posts need to be thoughtful, well written and thoroughly cover the topic. You should read the assigned reading for the week before responding to the discussion topic in order to cover it thoroughly. I will be responding to the discussions as well.
In order to be counted present for class you must post an initial response by Wednesday, post a reply to at least one other student’s initial post by Sunday and complete the assignment for the week by Sunday. Not doing these activities will result in an unexcused absence for you. Three consecutive absences or a total of five will result in a drop.
